Blue Russian Cat Breed

It is one of the oldest breeds of cats originally from the Archangel Islands in northern Russia. It was taken to England in 1860 were it started to compete with the Blue cat.

By 1912 the different cat families were already identified and from that year on the Blue Russian cat started to be known throughout the world; specially in Scandinavian countries and in the United States of America.

Blue Russian cats have a small wedge-shaped head, medium sized snout, straight nose and strong jaws, big pointed ears and big green eyes. Its body is linear and long, with a light and slim body structure. It has long thin legs and a very long pointed straight tail. It also has a smooth, short and plushy hair (a special feature of the breed is that it has double hair) with a solid blue of a shiny characteristic produced by the silver spots on the external part.
