Bathing a Cat

Cats rarely need to be bathed but there are the exceptions when they require our help to get clean. Since cats like exploring and discovering new things they sometimes get quite dirty. Also cats will often get used car oil in their hair or other toxic products and you will want to clean this off of them yourself to avoid the cat licking and ingesting these harmful products. Bathing a cat is an extremely difficult task and requires not only patience but also skill. Most cats naturally do not like being wet and so will normally try anything to get out of having to be bathed. Make sure that before you attempt to wash your cat that you have everything you will need on hand. It is best to wash your cat in the bathtub or kitchen sink with warm water and specially formulated cat shampoo. Have a helper hold the cat while you pour the warm water over it, then shampoo its coat and finally rinse off the shampoo making extra sure to get it all off. Do not use a hair dryer to dry your cat's coat, as they hate the sound and feel of hair dryers. The best thing to do is gently wrap your wet cat in a soft towel and try and remove all the excess water. Then keep your cat warm until it is completely dry.
