Apartment Cats in Condominium

Of course It is true cats prefer to run freely outside than to be kept inside a house. But when cats, while kittens get used to being inside a house, they will accept it as their territory, just as they would in an open space. It is important for them, in spite of all their independence, the close relation with "their" people or another cat with whom they share their territory. Besides everything, the same behaviour one can observe while free in the outside, will be developed even living in the tiniest house.

Home par excellence is the core of their life, and as such they choose a whole room, but in occasions, a little corner will be just fine. They like to own the room or corner by themselves although sometimes they are willing to share it with their corresponding couple. At this point, my cats behave in a very different way. Nina, a very delicate little cat meets its match in the narrow space at the hot air conditioner device, where no one else can follow her. Morellino chose a chair in my office, and he did not care if I sat in a corner right in front of him. Matilda, on the other hand, loves to jump on to the kitchens shelf where she has a great view.

A second home is the rest of the house, where they run, play, find other residents or look for new hide-outs. One can observe limits and paths by which a cat allows others surpass. In this case, both greet each other by a nose control and a risen tail.

Moving to another home: cats have to get used to a new territory. Make it easy for them by doing the following.

  • Until all the chaos is over, leave the cat with all its things (basket, service) in an empty room.
  • Then make a tour with him all around the new house.
  • Leave him still on the empty room with his things.
  • Once the new house is clean an neat, take the cat to Its new service area.
  • Let him inspect it house by itself.
