American Short Hair Cat

The ancestors of this breed are the cats that came to North America along with the pilgrims; afterwards with the contribution of the British short-hair cats the breed was finally settled in 1900.

This breed is renowned for its longevity, very good health, intelligence and good attitude towards people and other animals. The American short-hair cat was first known only as a short-hair domestic cat and was one of the five breeds acknowledged by the CFA.

Some features of the race are their strong jaws, round cheeks, long whiskers, straight ears and filled head. Their body has a solid structure with a well developed chest, strong legs, thick tail and short dense hair that comes in a wide range of colors in which tiger-like-silver with deep black spots is the predominant color.
