American Curl Cat

Origin
Considered one of the newest breeds from the United States that has the quality of having their ears curled backwards softly. 

The first American curl was Shulamith, a cat crossed with a long-haired that was found in California in 1981.

These cats' ears were not straight, but curled backward. Excluding this characteristic, it was completely normal, since the gene mutant influence in the rest of the cat. They all descend from Shulamith.

In a regular litter of cats from this breed, half the kittens have their ears curled.

Characteristics
Their size and bones are intermediate. It has a wide tail in the base, long as the body. Well muscular extremities of medium length.

Their head is shaped as a cone, longer than wide with a straight nose. Have medium size eyes, shaped like a nut, well separated and the color matches their hair, the Siamese specimen (pointed) must have blue eyes.

Their ears are curled backwards and reach a curve of 90°. They must not exceed 120°. The kittens are born with straight ears and curved backwards obtaining their definite position at 4 months of age.

They have a minimum of sub hair, short, dense, packed together and shinny or semi long and of mayor length at the tail, the aigrette is appreciated inside the ears. The hair can be a combination of colors, but the solid patterns, bicolor and striped ones are the most common.

They adapt living in an apartment but are grateful when they have a patio or backyard. They are essentially robust and resistant. Very calmed and affectionate.
