Pruritus in Dog

Pruritus provokes injuries on the fragile skin of the dog due to the continuous scratching and biting, as well as altering the dog's nerves. The causes are a very varied, being the skin inflammations, of any origin, the cause of this intense and continuous pruritus. The allergic states provoke an intense itching sensation which increases the sensitivity and inflammation. Dogs that are nervously tempered or that have extremely sensitive skin sometimes acquire the custom of scratching themselves, even bored dogs, which produces chronic problems.

Also generalized skin can be due to insect bites, ingestion of substances, like certain foods, plants or products which would be animal is sensitive to. This reaction doesn't appear spontaneously in the first exposure to the antigen. Other causes of pruritus can be due to the infestation of parasites, lice, mite, flees, leeches, etc. Check with your veterinarian.
