Flayed Dog Skin

Flayed skin generally occurs in animals that wear harnesses, as in the case of guide dogs and, often, in small dogs. Tightening the parts of the harness in the wrong way causes pressure and flaying of the area. When you put on a harness, it must always be tightened just enough so as not to produce friction. If the skin is flayed, the part of the harness that caused it should be loosened or placed in a way that it doesn't cause more damage. The wound must be cleaned with warm water, adequately disinfected and treated by sprinkling a healing powder. If serious, go to the veterinarian.
