Eclampsia in Dog

Eclampsia in Dog is a state in which an animal, with no pathological cause in the brain, is suddenly attacked by convulsions or outbursts of periphery origins (different to epilepsy). That cause is generally, although difficult to determine, some form of irritation, like strange bodies in the stomach or the presence of parasite worms in the intestines. When the dog is about to suffer an attack, he acts kind of strangely, moves in an insecure way and seems to be stupefied and uneasy. In an instant, muscular spasms occur, and the members become rigid. The animal lies on his side and moved as if marching or trotting, interspersed by severe spasmodic attacks in the whole body. In the ordinary for them the dog can lose consciousness. After a few minutes that attack passes, and then repeats a short while later and so on, with short intervals, until the dog is totally exhausted. The presence of a vet is very urgent if you want to save the animal's life. Puerperal Eclampsia is a special way, consecutive to birth. The cause is not well defined, but it is attributed to some form of irritation like strange bodies in the stomach, parasites in the intestines, metabolism alterations, probable irritation of the uterus is or breasts, and maybe other causes. The need of a vet is obvious.
