Dog Thyroid Gland Problem Disease
The Thyroid Gland is located in between the fifth and eighth rings of the trachea. It's segregate a very important hormone, "thyroxin", that stimulates the metabolic index of the organism, the transport of the membrane, and energy and protein synthesis. At the same time, it increases the speed of the heart, blood pressure, body temperature, intestinal motility and the activity of the central nervous system. It is necessary for the correct growth and development of the young animal and forward reduction. The most common disorders are "hypothyroidism" and "hyperthyroidism", besides other similarly important disorders.
In "hypothyroidism", both the physical and mental activity are attenuated due to an insufficient level of thyroid hormones. The animal presents lethargy, unemotional attitude, dry and scarce hair, thickening of the skin, alopecia on the sides of the body, neck and thighs. The body also gets bigger and is intolerant to hold. In more severe cases there can be a subnormal temperature, abnormally slow heartbeat, irregularities in the estral cycle, decrease of the libido and fertility, diarrhea or constipation and, sometimes, testicular atrophy, human umbilical hernia and other consequences. In the case of an excess of thyroxin, "hyperthyroidism", the metabolism accelerates, there is weight loss, fast pulse and fast breathing, bulging eyes and constant nervousness. Both forms must be treated by a vet as the metabolism of the dog is in danger.
