Dog Skin Care

Taking care of your Dog's Skin: The growth of hair on a dog is a complex process regulated by the hormones and by many other factors. Where there is hair loss, it can be due to seasonal changes, as this way it gets rid of the fur it doesn't need for the upcoming hot season. Nevertheless, when it is excessive, and outside of the season when it should normally change and the dog leaves piles of hair in different places, it can evidence pathologic or endocrine causes. When faced with these cases go to the vet. But many times this hair loss is due to the fact that maybe you have the dog locked up in a room with central heating system (in apartments during winter), which doesn't allow the skin and organism to produce the normal growth of the hair to reinforce the body for winter. As soon as the hair starts growing, it gets rid of it because of the heat that is in the environment. It is good to keep the dog in next temperatures, not too hot and giving him the opportunity to go outside, to the cold, as in that way the skin and internal heat regulator will balance out and maintain a healthy level. It's not only good for the skin, but for the animal as well.

A certain amount of "dandruff" is a normal in dogs, but when it's accompanied with pruritus (An intense itching sensation that can have various causes -- as by allergies or infection or lymphoma or jaundice etc) and/or hair loss, in which case you should take your dog to the veterinarian the before the State worsens.
