Dog Prostate and Testicles Problems

Dog Prosthetic afflictions, hyperplasia, metaplasia, prostatitis, tumors, cysts, abscesses, atrophies and the stones are generally the afflictions that affect the prostate. As all get older, their prostate can increase up to twice its size, which brings along a series of discomforts, for example constipation, dysuria (painful or difficult urination), rigidity of the back legs and partial paraplegia.

Prostatitis can be acute or chronic. In the "acute" there is a lack of appetite, Ferris, lethargy, vocational vomiting, unwillingness to move and bow-shaped back; foreskin fluid, dysuria, hematuria (the presence of blood in the urine; often a symptom of urinary tract disease), fever and resistance to having the abdomen checked, especially close to the pelvis. In the "chronic", recurrent hematuria, dysuria and recurrent anal pruritus. "Prosthetic Tumors" are frequent in old dogs.

"Cysts", very uncommon and only when they're very big, create discomforts like constipation, hematuria and dysuria. "Abscesses" are generally the result of an untreated and acute prostatitis. The symptoms are similar to that of prostatitis and, sometimes, with temperature rise. In Dysuria and hematuria in particular, the releasing of blood towards the end of urination is and almost characteristic. The animal remains in a urinating position even though he has finished, possibly because of the sensation of pressure on the bladder. The presence of stones is very rare. More about Dog Testicles >>
