Dog Muscles Diseases. Inflammatory Myopathies.

Dog Muscle diseases, also known as "myopathies", in dogs can have different origins. The main manifestations can be weakness that is generalized or limited to a limb or muscular group. It may seem that when a dog is resting he looks completely normal, but when he exercises you will notice his weakness and walking difficulties. Also, a variation of the muscular volume is made evident, probably due to atrophies or hypertrophies. Localized "Inflammatory Myopathies", provoked by an infectious wound, can produce a local necrosis, and sometimes with the formation of abscesses. "Chronic Myositis" frequently accompanies infected fractures. In the muscles, sinuous tracts are formed; they are involved in fibrous tissue, sequels of which can be a painful contraction that immobilizes or limits articular movement. There also exists "Protozoic Myositis" which generally attacks young dogs and puppies. The puppies, short after being born, present problems in the back legs, and I rigid extension. There is evident pain and dogs can not use their reflexes due to the rigidity.

There's this other disease called "Eosinophilic Myositis" which, in acute disease, provokes pain and inflammation of the chewing muscles. Some of the symptoms are depression, anorexia, light fever and some anemia. The consuls and lymphatic glands can increase in size. "Myotonia" is defined as the active continued contraction of a muscle after having stopped the voluntary effort or stimulation that provoked it. In other words it is the inability of the muscle to relax normally. There are other causes that originate muscle diseases, which is why you should always observe any abnormality, walking difficulty, or difficulty of going up or down the stairs, pain, contractions, etc. Be alert and, if anything arises, take the animal immediately to the veterinarian.
