Dog Liver Problems

Diseases, discomforts or biliousness of the liver are some of the most common disorders in dogs. These are generally due to the wrong diet, in which the animal is deprived of the natural and balanced diet he is used to or at least intended to. The beginning of a hepatic disease doesn't present specific symptoms, unless we're talking about the rupture of a biliary vesicle, biliary conduct (violent trauma does a) or the presence of big stones. Most biliary afflictions seem to have a gradual and long appearance; however, some symptoms that should call your attention are weight-loss, depression and gastrointestinal disorders, sometimes with the presence of blood in the feces. The animals can be very beaten and have yellowish vomiting (presence of bile). They always feel like lying down, are not hungry and lose weight. The presence of abdominal fluid (ascites) should also alert you. Among the liver diseases, jaundice is pretty frequent. Some of the manifestations are the yellowing of the skin, the temperature goes up and the animal is noted, the press, marked weakness in his movements and foul smell in the breathing. There can be convulsive attacks with abundant vomiting. When jaundice is chronic, the yellowishness appears gradually, the temperature goes up slowly and clumsiness is not noticed immediately. The feces are chalky and the Urine is greenish yellow. Constipation can come up and the animal loses quality, he becomes anemic, presenting a hydropic state in the abdomen, with increased weakness. Among the serious liver diseases there is "Cirrhosis" in which the cells all the liver are replaced by hard and fibrous tissue. The causes can be many, but to mention some we have viral infections, active chronic hepatitis, anoxia (absence of oxygen in arterial blood or in the tissues). etc.Any animal that shows signs of hepatic perturbations, must be taken to the vet in order for him to give a good diagnose.
