Dog Enteritis - Canine

Enteritis generally affects puppies, though it can affect dogs of all ages. The chances of the dog dying depend on the age and seriousness of the attack. In 12 month-old puppies, there is a high possibility of death. It usually presents itself with vomits, great depression and anorexia. The vomits are intense until diarrhea appears, usually between 24 and 48 hours. Defecation is abundant and fluid with spots or streaks of blood, although it can also be soft, creamy or noticeably hemorrhaging. Dehydration is high, as well as weight loss. The sick dysenteric dog can collapse and die in the space of 24 hours. Veterinarian attention is urgent; death can come knocking anywhere between 48 and 72 hours. Give your dog a lot of liquid.
