Dog Dermatitis and Eczema

In "acute humid dermatitis", the skin inflammation is very painful and expands very rapidly becoming a completely red area, full of pus, moist and swollen. Additionally, the hair around the center of the wound falls out and the hairs around the area get all sticky, forming little scabs. Clean the area well in order to get rid off the oozes and scabs, letting it dry alone. "Dermatitis with cutaneous pleats" shows up in dogs that have a lot of tight wrinkles, characteristic of some breeds. A minor reddening of the skin begins to appear along with irritation and, later, a severe inflammation with occasional ulcers and a foul smell appear – not to mention painful. Since these pleats are not well ventilated, they're always humid, which is why those areas have to be dried on a daily basis, carefully and softly so as not to hurt the animal. After that, apply some lotion, cream or powder that has been indicated by the vet. The perineal and interdigital skin can also be affected due to constant friction, humidity or bacterial contamination. "Demodecic Scabies" can be localized in the head or extremities, with a slight loss of hair, slowly spreading or spontaneously appearing in a generalized way in wide hairless spots. There are two and the injuries: 1) flaky with waxen seborrhea (a condition in which over activity of the sebaceous glands causes the skin to become oily) and 2) unflaky with partial or total loss of hair. "Pustulous injuries" are due to the breaking of hairy follicles full of mite, towards underneath the dermis, with the following inflammation of the pimples or due to strange bodies and secondary bacterial infections. The extreme cases of pustulous scabies provoke important disorders in the dog's health. In "Sarcoptic scabies", the parasitic mite digs galleries in the superficial layer of the epidermis, where the female has laid the eggs. The pruritus that it causes is intensely unbearable, which is why the dog gets tired easily. Although the affliction can concentrate anywhere, the ears, elbows and hocks seem to be the most common affected areas. Due to the intense itching, the dog, in his desperation, can hurt himself very badly. The skin gets hot, swollen and hairless, increased by the wounds provoked by the dog. The vet needs to indicate what treatment to give him.
