You must suspect the existence of cranial lesions, fractures and contusions in all kinds of traffic accidents, falls, violent crashes or any kind of traumatism that can affect the brain. The animal can be bewildered or unconscious, presenting hemorrhage by the mouth, nose and ears. Other signs are fast yet weak pulse, unequal pupils, paralysis in a limb, headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting, etc. Some size the animal seems normal but can momentaneously black out, although later on he might stumble and become unconscious or develop other symptoms. Although the impact might not have left your animal unconscious is always the danger of cerebral hemorrhage and other serious subsequent disorders. You must keep your dog lying down and calm, with which the possibilities of hemorrhage are less. If the animal is unconscious or suffocating, carefully turn his head to a side so that the blood or phlegm can flow out of the opening of the mouth. If his head is bleeding, place a sterile cloth or bandage firmly on it. Keep them lying down and get the urgent assistance of a vet. If you must move him, immobilized his head and neck, for which you will slide a board under the whole body, including the head.
