Canine Dog Asthma in Dogs

Canine Dog Asthma is a respiratory disorder characterized by wheezing; usually of allergic origin. The breathing becomes difficult; the animal gapes and makes a lot of effort to breathe, while showing a dazed and fearful look on his face. Usually during the whole attack, the dog remains standing. These attacks can show up in irregular intervals that can last up to 30 minutes. The causes of this affliction are many as there can be different hereditary predisposition in different breeds.

In most cases it is usually related to allergies and /or nervousness. Another possible cause is chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane that covers the respiratory passage. You must ask your veterinarian for advice on what to do in such circumstances and how to calm the attack and then later begin a treatment. Otherwise, the attacks can repeat and become more painful for the sick animal. Try to keep your dog away from humidity and cold during bronchitis or other respiratory afflictions that your dog might have and which could lead to an asthmatic affliction. A light diet is recommended, obviously vouched by the vet, who should also recommend a daily exercise regime.
