Cases of dog constipation can prolong for one or two days without serious consequences as it can be due to a change of the diet. With approximately one spoon of magnesium milk (depending on the size and grade) you can help your dog to get rid of what's obstructing his intestines. But, those dogs who after trying and trying to defecate do not achieve their purpose, should be taken to the vet. They could have the fecal ball, a strange object, or worse, a tumor. In these cases do not give laxatives without consulting. There's always the risk of provoking a peritonitis. These risky cases are not easy to solve. The consumption of bones that can get stuck, perianal deformity, constriction in the colon, pericolonic mass (tumors), increased prostate and others can present a serious case, which is why it is important to go to the vet in severe cases of constipation.
